You may have noticed that my reading has changed a bit this term, so here's a few pointers for what you should be expecting for home reading.
I've been putting sight words into the children's notebooks every time they master the old ones in 20s or less. You need to write this down, or I will assume they haven't practiced!
I am only seeing 3 groups a day now, so there will be one day each week where your child will bring home a familiar book. Use this as an opportunity to increase fluency with you child. (That is, how easily they read it, how interesting it sounds.)
On Thursdays, please use the Library book they bring home for Shared Reading.
On Friday, as always, they have their poem from their Poetry Book for reading. Please return this on Mondays.
These are the days you should get a familiar book:
Lions:Fridays
Monkeys:Wednesdays
Tigers:Tuesdays
Crocodiles:Mondays
